960 As first Auto for Niece 900

Greetings! I have located a BEAUTIFUL black '93 960 here in Dallas with 124K miles. It has records and everything works on it. It needs the 120K service done, but other than that in pretty well pristine shape. The asking price is $4850.
We have 2 other Volvos...a 740 Turbo and 740 16 Valve. I'm looking for a car for my 18 year old neice...her first car...something to drive until we buy her a new car. I love the simplicity of 740 which seems indestructable. Is the 960 too much car? Is it a potential maintenance nightmare?

I appreciate any input. I would love to have the car myself...but have 2 Mercedes and don't particularly need anything else parked outside.
