I was under my '89 749 turbo last night because the oil pressure light came on and I read that the first thing to check was the sender. I guess I found it, it was in front of the oil filter, passenger side in the block. One green wire out of it with a plastic bullet connector going to it. Was I right? I didn't take it out but I did clean the connector terminal and then I changed the oil after running a bottle of engine flush through the engine. One or the other fixed the light. We ran it home and then to work this morning with no light showing and I think that the piston slap, lifter noise, or combo seems quieter. I read that the volvo's have a slightly smaller screen size on the oil pump and it can get plugged easily. I had just changed the oil 500 miles before and I ran a can of engine flush through it then. How likely is it that I could have been starving the engine by flushing the gunk down to the pan and then having it try to suck it back up? Also is the pump near the drain hole where I could spray cleaner up the drain hole and flush the screen off?
