Free flow cat for 2.5 exhaust 900 1992

I am upgrading exhaust to performance exhaust on my 940 brick with 110 miles...because of the miles do i need to change cat...and because it is an old cat do i need to worry about it breaking into pieces going into my new exhaust. I have heard of free flow cats..do they work better..if so where can I get one.
