control arm bushings 700 1985

1985 745t

Recently I've ben experiencing some pulling when applying the brakes. The car will pull quickly to one side when brakes are applied (most noticeable at highway speeds), and seems to be willing to pull to either side with no apparent rhyme.

I had thought this would be solved by either bleeding teh brakes or replacing the pads, but afteer reading the FAQ notes about worn control arm bushings I decided to take a look. Turns out one of the sets of bushings is worn to the point where I could actually rip pieces of it off (split, frayed, etc.), while the other is worn and split but not nearly as bad.

So, I guess i need to replace them. My questions:

1) Is this one of the jobs where you really need to just do both sides for even effect, even if one isn't necessarily gone?

2) Is the picture included the "upgraded" bushings that I want to use? These are marked "Urethane" while the other one's I've found are black and just "bushings". Just want to be sure since the bushings pictured list for 3 times the cost of the normal ones ($27.03 vs. $8.04)... two bushings per side, right?

3) Anyone have a chiltons or green book handy they could use to tell me the hours for replacing both sets of front control arm bushings?

Thanks in advance.
