Rear Shock Problems 700 1990

I just replaced my rear shocks yesterday. They went in pretty easily. However, now there is a loud clanging/rattling in the passenger side rear. I took the wheel off and checked all the bolts but I can't see anything that is wrong. Is there something that I'm missing? Any insight would be a help
