760 too much fuel & hunting idlewaiting for password 700 1988

I am testing a 760 V6 Estate before buying.

The idle hunts (pulses) but the garage guy believes this may be linked with very high CO2 in the exhaust, >10%. Although he admits cleaning idle valve would additionally help.

Any ideas what may cause the over-fueling? Air mass metre is the seller's choice.

A quick reply would be very much appreciated.

It is also slow to pull away (automatic transmission), but I assume this is related to the fuel/idle problem.
