How to replace brake light switch in 84 GLT with cruise? 200

The brake lights stopped working on my 84’ 240glt wagon. All the other lights work fine, but when the brake pedal light is pressed, the tail lights don’t light. I’m not getting a bulb failure light either. First thing I checked was the fuse but it’s good, I tried swapping fuses and I’ve checked with a multimeter that current is getting to/through it.

Then I checked the switch its self with the meter. The hot side IS getting a constant 12 volts like it’s supposed, but the switched side (with the blue/red wire) doesn’t get anything, whether the pedal is pressed or not.

So this means it’s the switch that’s shot, right? How do I go about replacing it? I pulled the lower panel off, the foot air duct, and the plastic cover off the steering column (just trying to get some more space). But with the cruise control hardware all over under there, I’m just not seeing how to easily replace this switch. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance everyone!
