After 18 years to the day and 180,000 miles, my 84 GL Diesel Brick is gone ... well, sorta.
Today I sold her to my best friend for his son ( a rising college junior) to use during his summer internship with the New England Patriots. Still, when I look out to the driveway and don't see her, it is like a family member has moved away.
Incidentally, she was still on the original clutch and starter, and the block has never been opened, and she still gets 30+/- mpg on the open road in OD.
Well, she really did have to go. After all, there are the 88 DL wagon and the 98 V70 (Base) and the 98 V70 T5 and, oh yes, the 67 MGB Roadster in the garage. Now I will be the first one to admit that a man can't own too many Volvos, but, with only two drivers and state, local and insurance costs getting out of hand, I just had to let one go. At least she went to a good home with people who will love her and let me visit her often.
In time, the hurt will ease, and life will go on ..........
