94 945T - Alternator related question, I think? 900

ok here goes..
sometimes when I start my car, the SRS light is on, and if I put my headlights on they're dim. I've heard that the SRS light will be on if you have a low voltage situation. If I rev the engine up past 1700 RPM's the light goes off and my headlights and all other lights get brighter. I can hold the Rpm's at 1500 all day and the light won't go out, I have to go above 1700, and also right after the voltage goes up I get alternator noise in my radio, non stock.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.
