I have a rear caliper (ATE) on my 240 wagon that is missing the pins and pad pin clip. Pulled the wheel and much to my surprise, this hardware that keeps the pads in was gone! I figured while I was replacing pads in the rear, I would pull the rotors too and replace. The mis aligned pads caused a bad wear pattern on rotor. I have replaced rotors before but my experience is with brake systems with flexible hoses (BMW) so, when I pull the caliper, I could hang it... and pull the rotor without bleeding the system. The hard lines on the volvo prevent that. If I pull the caliper and cap the system etc. when I finish doing this(and put things back together), do I have to bleed the lines? Never bled any brake lines and don't necessarily want to unless I have to. Don't own a brake bleeding system (yet).
And.... my caliper mounting bolts... are they self locking and replacement is required?? Bentleys says so but, don't see this part readily available/sold. Cant I throw some locktight on the bolt and pray real hard???
