'95 965 Air Conditioner Clatter 900

While starting up the Volvo this morning, the compressor started to make a VERY LOUD clicking noise. Didn't have time to play with it before work, but I am assuming that it is compressor since it stopped when I switched off the air. Is this an early sign of compressor clutch failure that I've read about in the FAQ? If not, any other ideas?
