Airbox thermostat question.. 700

'85 744T(project cat)..Need quick help here fellow bricksters,Cleaned air box yesterday and noticed that the "cool air side" is closed(car has not started in a for days)while the "hot air side"(the one atached to the alunimum hose) is open.I've already detached/remove the aluminum hose immediately after purchase but still aprrehensive of the hot air being sucked fron the hot turbo side.My question is,is that the "default setting" or is my thermostat dead.I also noticed that the screen on the AMM is torn.Do I need to replace/fix said screen?? Any suggestions ??
