Steering Rack 200

I just finished installing a used rack in my '84 245. What a learning experience! After all was said and done, I took the car to an alignment shop to fine tune it and he say's my "new"(used) rack may be no good. I was slightly pissed. The problem is that the car turns to the left way to easy and will not recenter. right is normal it's just the left. And it tends to pull to the left as well. It seems that the alignment should have taken care of this.

PS. I got new tires after the alignment, maybe not the smartest move, but would this affect anything????
