Update on my gearstick: I still can't get reverse 700

Hi,

Basically, after trying to glue my gearknob back on and finding the glue trickling down and glueing the reverse selection protector so I can't select reverse properly, and then trying acetone to remove the superglue it still won't move.

I took the car to a local Volvo specialist this morning and he said that he could change the gear stick, but it would involve lifting the car up and lowering the transmission so he could remove the pin underneath the car to replace the stick.

Is this right? And how much should it cost me?

Is there nothing I can do myself? In a previous post Bill suggested that the gear stick could be removed from inside the car?
