move alternator location... 200 1978

78 242 B21a.

The air pump (polution control yada yada) on my 78 242 seized up (talk about belt squeal!!)

So I pull off the air pump - and notice that the mount looks similar to the alternator mount..


THOUGHT:

Would I be able to move my alternator to the upp location - keeping the anternator out of water,mud, & dust???

Has anyone tried this - do the alternator and waterpump pulleys stil line up??

Belt lengths would have to be modified...
