I am new to this site and I wanted to thank Steve for the site and all of you who posts. The information on Bricks is fanastic.I have a 740 with 240,000 on it. I have done many head jobs on almost all manufactures cars but the 740 turbo Volvo was the easiest I have ever done. I read all the posts on what was involved and then went at it. It took me 1 hour to get the head out. I didn't have to remove the turbo.I just unbolted the exhaust manifold/turbo from the head and moved it to the side. The intake was unbolted and moved to the side too. That's it,head came out. Putting it back together took about 4 hours. I spent time cleaning and checking hoses and wires. Because of the posts I found the flame trap clogged at that plastic piece where all the hoses join.It took me 20 minutes to clean it out. The hoses were fine no clogs. Something I will be checking quite often now since I see how bad it can clog up.The post on the timing belt was great and that went good also. I changed the crank, intermid shaft and the cam oil seals no problem. With the whole thing together I turn on the key and it started right up. A first for me in head gasket jobs. Usually you have hard starting problems when you do a job so big.It purred like a kitten. The only problem I did have was that oil was pouring out from underneath the tranny area and it ended up being the turbo return line seal. I read the post on that after I found the leak.In all the job went smooth. Once again thank you all for all the input and time you spend logging in the info and keeping this data base with the most up to date information about the Brick.Easeist auto I ever worked on.I hope Ford does not screw with the Volvo. Right now I have a Ford truck that is the biggest pig to work on. Especially if you have computer/EFI problems. Thanks everyone
