Airbag removal 700

How / where does the electrical connector to the airbag disconnect?

-- Is it the plastic device on the back of the airbag a connector? If so how does it come apart?
or
-- Does the wire coming from the back of the airbag disconnect further down the steering wheel assembly.

We are parting out a wrecked 88 740 turbo. I have the airbag loose from the steering wheel-- but I am uncertain regardig how the connector works if it is the plastic device on the back of the airbag.
