testing knock sensor? 200 1986

First this is a single wire sensor. The car idles fast (limp mode) and rich but drives. Also it will not restart when hot. I disconnected it and seemed to run better, idle was normal.

Hanyes says the voltage with the ing on, should be AC 1.5v. I got 11.5 dc between it and the ground wire.

Temp sensor is fine and the harness is in good condition.
