over drive turns on by itself and wont shut off! Brakes lights ARE insane!!! 200

I just bought a volvo 91 240 sedan. My problem is the over drive turns on and wont shut off. also my brake lights are really screwy. Back up lights dont come on at all, right brake light does not come on but does come on softly as tail light when head lights are on, but does not brighten when the brake is depressed. with the headlights off the left light works but at night with headlights on the left brake light which doubles as a tail light turns of completely when brake is depressed...... what the hell is going on do I need to re wire the car? a new computer? please help!!!!
