Front End Clunk and Strut Spacers 200 1990

On a 90 245 with 100K I have just replaced the front struts, strut bearings and tie rod ends. Boge Turbo Gas inserts where used.

The problem is there is a clunking sound coming from the right front whenever a sharp bump is encountered ( the bump being a crack in the pavement - i.e. something sharp )

I also saw on a parts list the there are strut insert spacers - do I need these?

Any ideas what to check would be appreciated.
