Should I clean my throttle body before I install my new TPS? 700 1989

If I wasn't pressed for time, I would, of course, clean my throttle body. However, i'm an hour from home and my car started to limp again right out of the parts store parking lot. If I do a quick swap of my new TPS with my old one, will it get hurt again by the crud in my throttle body?
