Marine Diesel Alternator

I have a 25 hp Volvo Marine Diesel MD2B in my sailboat. Because anything Marine combined with Volvo means BIG BUCKS, I generally try to buy my stuff from sources other than Volvo Penta. I have for years used an early 80s 55 amp
alternator with its external voltage regulator. Recently, I purchased a brand new 65 amp marine alternator on Ebay. Made by Mando (Korea) for Volvo Penta, it will bolt right on. Volvo Penta # is 856600 with a Mando # of AC165618 and a SAE MARINE J1171. My question is can I use the external Bosch voltage regulator that I use on the 55 Amp one? Or maybe my question should be where can I buy a Voltage Regulator that will work and still be inexpensive?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, John
