Greetings people-
I just purchased a 1988 245 with 206k on it. Body in great shape, and the guy who I purchased it from seemed to take care of it. The rear seal on the tranny has a leak, which I am planning on taking care of.
I want to do a full flush service on it, and replaced the dextron (he used it) with synthetic. Also, I am going to replace the tranny filter so I know that it is clean. I have been reading that I can only get about half of the fluid out when I change the tranny filter. I also read that I can get the rest of it out of I pump it out/thru the tranny cooling fluids. It is my understanding that you replace the tranny fluid thru the cooling lines until you see the new fluid coming out the "out" tube. If I want to exchange the dextron with synthetic, and I use the above method, won't the 2 different types of fluid mix together? How do I insure that all of the dextron is out so I can get as much synthetic as possible?
Thanks-
Joe HC
