1989 and 1986 wiring harness swap feasability 200

Is it possible to use the wiring harness from a 1989 245 non turbo and to tranplant it in a 1986 245 with a similar b230f engine. I presume that the 1989 does not have the problem with the crumbling insulation thatI can now see on my 1986. Is the electronic system in the 1989 240 sufficienly different that I should look for a 1988 as a donor or recipient car for the elctronic components
