Purr, Sputter, Sput, Purr, Buck, Purr, Sputter... What can it be? 200 1988

Just started this misbehavior yesterday. Symptoms: car was running normally, had driven about 5 miles after the first start of the day. Just when it shifted into overdrive (40mph) at steady speed it hiccupped, or sputtered, then was okay. About two more miles it sputtered again two or three times in a row. About a mile more and we stopped at a traffic light, it hiccupped and died. Started right up, then a few more seconds and died again. Started immediately and we pulled in to a restaurant. Ate and left about an hour later and drove the 6-7 miles home and it sputtered a couple of more times. Today I removed the fuel relay under the dash and resoldered it. It was a new one I put in in 2000. Did not see cracks under 8x mag, but resoldered anyway. Cleaned the distributor cap pickups and checked the plug wire connections. Any ideas? Could it be the 'other' fuel relay I have read about called a radio suppression relay? If so, where might I find this miscreant?

Bought this boy new in '88 and now has 179.5K on it without trouble (well before now).
