85 or 87 740 for daughter's graduation present?

Hola Bricksters:
There are 2 nonturbo 740's (NO rust here in Texas) at local used car lots ,85 & 87, both for a little over $1000. I'm looking at buying one and rebuiliding it for my daughter's work car when she graduates from Brown U., in 2 years. Now for my question:
Are the wiring harness problems worse with the 85 or the 87? Is it a simple 4 wire repair for the 740 like the 83-84 240 (BTDT)? Any thing else to watch out for? Which one would one of you VolvoGurus choose?
Gracias in advance,
el Raidman
