Leaky oil cap 700 1990

I have a very slow but steady leak of oil from the oil filler cap on the valve cover. I replaced the cap gasket some time ago and even at the time of replacement there was a very tiny leak, but not enough to worry about. Now it's becoming stinky when the oil drips to the exhaust.
What would any of you look at or do?]
