ABS sometimes seems to engage at very low speed... 700 1989

Sometimes when I drive my wife's 745 (360k km = 225k mi) and I brake very gently at very slow speed the ABS seems to engage. That is I hear a kind of a noise that for lack of a better word I would describe as electro-mechanical. I believe it comes from the front of the car.

Nothing seems to happen (I'm note even sure whether the brakes actually engage or not at that point), but it is slightly disconcerting.

The dealer found nothing and of course it doesn't happen when my wife drives the car...

Also, the ABS light does light up from time to time - no pattern in it as far as I can figure. Not sure whether that might be related.

Any ideas?
