Our '94 940 (Halifax assembly) has Munroe Sensa-trac rear shocks, and I don't know who made the strut inserts. The car has never been as firm as our 740 was, and now it needs attention in the shock department in preparation for a long, loaded vacation trip. When driving, it feels like it needs rear shocks, with significant pogoing of the back. OTOH, the bumper push test says the fronts are weaker than the rears.
Should I be changing the fronts, the rears, or all four?
Would changing the rears only cause handling problems?
Is my bumper push test giving me misleading results because of its relative over sensitivity to rebound damping vs. compression damping? Would a "bumper lift" test be meaningful?
My intention is to improve directional stability and reduce the bounce and wallow at the rear, but not seriously stiffen the ride or change the handling. I was planning to go with KYB gas-a-just, which seem to be a good shock for normal use.
Thanks
