Oil consumption increase 900 1991

Over the past 6 months I hav had to add oil more frequently before my usual 3K mile changes. I've had to add 2 qts after only 2K miles or so. Last year at this time I could go the 3K miles without ever adding any.

No oil leaks can be seen.. no dripping in driveway ... no smoke from exhaust.
Any ideas on why this is happening all of a sudden ?
