For years, I've had to warm up a cold engine for at least 2 minutes in order to "accomplish" smooth shifing from P to R to D (back out from garage). Otherwise, the transmission clunks and vibrates at shifing. I have taken it for granted as the dealers said it was normal. (They said it again even after warranty expired.) The FAQ suggests the cluck is caused by shortage of ATF in torque converter. A week ago, I added an additional 1/2 quart of Mobil ATF. The effort cut my warm up time to half, but the transmission is overfilled a little. I wonder if I should drain the ATF a little or just leave the way it is? The fluid was replaced with Mobil ATF at 70k, but did not help cold engine P-R-D excercise. Thanks in advance for any advise from the board.
