Seat repair 200

I want to post my experience on Saturday with new seats in my 88 240GL. The driver's seat had a serious lean to the right, and as well the foam had lost its support. Of course the passenger seat was fine. Looking back on it I probably should have just switched them - my wife resists riding in the car anyway. I consulted the board, got encouraged to attempt a DIY repair, ordered a few parts from IPD, and had a hillbilly holiday (I live in WV) of working on my car in the driveway on Saturday. Surprise: the foam was in poor repair, and I needed a total rebuild of the seat, not just a minor replacement. Thus I visited my local pick and pull, and found very nice seats in a 91 245, in what appears to be vinyl or pretty cheap leather (I had the ugly blue velvets before). $45 each installed, so I bought both so they'd match. Here's the bad news. The seats are not nearly as comfortable and supportive as my old blue velvets. Or at least as comfy as my passenger seat was.

Finally, let me warn any novices that the process of removing the upholstery fabric pretty much destroys the foam if it has some age on it and thus even a little tendency to tear or shred.
