My idle problem is back 245 '86 200

Well I thought that B.C. and Brownboy had worked me thru the problem, but it came back this afternoon.

A) Cleaned the throttle body
B) Set the throttle position Switch for "Click- click"
C) Cleaned the Flame Trap
D) New BIG air intake hose- no leaks past the AMM
E) No obvious air leaks anywhere before or after the throttle body
F) Timing is about 15 degrees at 1500rpm - more or less

Here's the current symptoms:

1) It always starts. Even with the throttle closed, but of course easier with the throttle cracked a bit.
2) After starting, it revs OK with the throttle up to 1500 rpm, but is a little rough -- tolerable, but rough.
3) When I'm diddlyne with the throttle to keep it from dying at low rpm, some times it acts like it's gonna backfire, and it fact did once or twice -- I think this was just a last gasp before it died.
4) Now The BIGGIE ----- took it for a test drive and it moved off smartly and ran for 50 yards then just sagged out like I had hit the ignition switch. Then came back to life with vigor and went thru this ON-OFF action for a while. It seems to be sensitive to acceleration,i.e., loading effects. If I nurse it along at very constant or light loads it ALMOST runs OK.-- well runs anyhow.

Bently says that the LH 2.2 has a "limp-home" default in the ECU that will keep you going in case of serious failure. Man, this seems to be where I am just now.

In the "so what" category -- I took off the Air Control Valve and cleaned it and "tested it". WD40 cleaned it up real good and it's loose as a goose, rattles when I shake it and turns easily, BUT --- When I put the 12 V on the term 3 and 4 and \ or 4 and 5 the valve does not move. Don't make a sound --- nothing. BUT, I test the resistance between the terminals, as per Bently, and it is right on at 40 ohms between the outside terms (4&5) and 20 ohms between the center and the outside (4&3) and 4&5. So I hook it up to the ole 230F and turn the engine on and ground the blue\white wire, as Bently says, and look at the ACV and it ain't moving -- like in it did not shut as Bently said it would when Blue\white is shorted to gnd. So I have the ACV hose to the intake manifold plugged off and turn the black idle adjust screw and the screw just don't even cause much change in the engine speed.

Now if the throttle is closed and the ACV is blocked off, where is the intake manifold getting the air for combustion???? How come it runs??? Enough air thru the black adjust screw???

So I believe the problem is not in the idle section, even tho the Air Control Valve is not working, the trouble must be somewhere else in the fuel delivery system. Bently says to block of the ACV when setting the base idle speed with the black Idle adjust screw. So when I have the ACV on the bench and it's hose blocked and the engine running, I should be able to adjust the idle speed with the black Idle adjust screw ----- and I don't seem to be able to.

Where do I start looking??? Man, I need help!
