Serious comfort issues

Hello all. I have an 86 740 ti, that came with no cup holder(s).

What were Volvo engineers (not)thinking? I know there were cups before 1986 because I remember drinking stuff out of a cup when I was a kid.

Seriously, has anyone found a good place to mount a cup holder in the cockpit area of an 86 740 sedan? The only places I can find ir right beside the seats where it is a little flat. I believe that is where the rear under the seat vent ducts run, which means no drilling/rivoting there. Any suggestions?

I looked at one of the ones that slides between the window and door trim, but I'm afraid of spilling hot coffee all over my shoulder when I stand on it. That is definately something to think about.
