89 740 GL Stumbles Upon Acceleration 700 1989

Hello

Our 89 740 has begun to act like it is not getting gas when accelerating some times. I do not have the pre heat hose hooked up anymore. I may change the air mass meter anyway with a used one. I can't help but think it might be the gas delivery. Once before our 240 acted the same way. Unfortunately I changed the in tank pre pump and the primary pump on that car before the volvo tech found a bad coil. Weird, a bad coil seemed so much like no gas when the car was stumbling. Does anyone know if the 89 700's have a prepump and a primary pump like our old 86 240 had. I unplugged the fuel regulator and the car really did not like that at all. Similarly I unplugged the AMM and the car died. FCP said $125 for the primary pump. They are really the best price in town I've found. Hopefully you'll have some good suggestions. I've never seen a clogged fuel filter on a volvo before. So not really thinking about that. Maybe I should? Thanx
