Buying my mechanics car? 700

My 245 was hit recently, no big deal mostly cosmetic except a complete headlight assembly is major $$$$ (maybe just replace them both with E-Code?-)

While talking with my mechanic he told me he was thinking of selling his personal 760 sedan. So he has time and room to devote to a Bertone project he just bought.

This car was his daily driver for many years and is immaculate. He is a meticulous mechanic and takes huge amounts of pride in his cars, and they show it......... No exaggeration, you could eat off the valve-cover.

Though it has 270K on the odometer, we are really talking a "concourse quality" car here. All new coils, brand new rear Nivomats, ipd sways, Brembo brakes, converted AC... well you name it, if it is "Volvo Candy", this car has it.

I'm a huge 240 fan, but know very little about 760's.
Would an offer of $3,000 be out of line for this car?
I don't to insult him, but I don't want to over pay, either.

Yes Phillip B. this is Steve's car, and I know what you are thinking....
Don't try and buy it out from under me ;-)
