This is a repost (thanks, Randy for input so far).

My 1982 24D is now converted to B23F with AW70 (1983). The diesel had no OD (no OD switch on shift knob, no relay, of course). I would like to access OD (imagine that) and I would be happy with full-time OD. Can I supply direct feed 12V to the OD solenoid or must I go through a relay?
