AIR-CONDITIONING QUESTION (IT'S REALLY HOT OUTSIDE!!) 700 1987

I am also converting the A/C system to R-134 this week. I bought the Volvo conversion kit from my dealer and want to know if it's O.K. to install the new bottle and everything before having a vacuum pulled on the sytem, or will this just suck out the new ester oil that I have to pour into the new accumulator prior to installation?
Should I have the system flushed clean before I even change out the old components with the new, or is it O.K. to install everything, pull the vacuum, and install the R-134? What is the difference between flushing and pulling a vacuum anyway? How does one flush out the old crap before installing the new components? I keep thinking that installing everything first will just cross-contaminate the new ester oil with the old R-12 oil.
HELP!!!
