Steering rack problem

can anyone give me some advice on checking and adjusting the pressure in the power steering rack? I have had problems getting the front end on my 83 240t wagon aligned even with new tie rods, ball joints, etc... I've read several post about adjusting the steering rack pressure to solve this problem, but no one listed the procedure. Any advice would be appreciated.
