Switch from solid rotors to vented? 200 1986

Hello Bricksters,

I am in need of new pads and rotors on the front of my 1986 240 sedan. I have the solid rotors and would like your advice on perhaps switching to vented rotors. Is this a good or bad idea? The brakes have performed well so no real complaints.

Any advice on Brembo versus Balo or Zimmerman or other brands? Is this a DIY job or one I should stay away from?
