Cleaned Throttle Body, Now Won't Idle! 200

i've got throttle body cleaning down pat. did a friend of mine's '90 240 'cuz it was idling rough. well, now it hardly idles and now is backfiring. it'll run fine if i un-plug the amm. could i have done something (gotten cleaner in) to the idle control switch? it passes the "click-click" test. afew years ago my '89 idled rough and i was told to get a new amm, but it ended up being the idle control switch needed adjustment, however in this instant it was just idling low, not backfiring. what did i do to my friends car?!
