Hello,
Just noticed this problem this summer for the first time:
Drove the car on a hot day (115 degree Phoenix AZ), and turned ot off for a quick store trip. After coming back to the car about 5 minutes later, I turned the car on,, and hit the road. Temp gauge was normal, no overheating at all, but after getting on the road the compressor seemed to have gone off. I drove the car for 25 minutes back to work, and on the way I could feel the compressor coming on (Air cooled out of the vents slightly), but it would go back off again.
FYI, the car does not show any of these conditions when its early in the morning or when I drive 100 miles non-stop on the highway. I have read on BB that the "Coolant Temp Sensor " on the back of the cylinder head of these cars can sometimes exaggerate the engine temp to the ECU, following which the 9XX ECU turns off the compressor to prevent overheating. Please advice if you are aware of this, and how I can get this fixed. It is a pretty dry & toasty summer here in Phoenix this year. Thanks for reading.
