PULLING OUT LAST HAIR ON MY HEAD! 700 1985

I just connected up the alternator- called AAA-came and jumped started car; but it konked out if I took my foot of the gas-it won't stay running. AAA guy says battery was charging. Confused!!!!!!!I don't know if it's a new problem; or connected with the alternator?

Any help would save my serenity and sanity!
