I got my car fairly cheap as it needed rust repair and brakes fixing....but later noted that my tires were bigger than recommended in manual...
I have then noticed that other 245s with the same larger tires as mine and then I read here that it's a problem due to people taking a more common size without considering safty.
When I bought snow tires I got the right size and noticed that the ride was a bit more bumpy but also more controlled... then after putting my old (but not very worn) tires on for the warmer monthes, I did see that if I really made a sharp high speed turn as a test that the car did seem to get a little out of control. I suspect it's the highcenter of gravity and sloppier sidewall rigidity that could spell a dangerous rollover in an accident at speed. Thus It's not good to put bigger tires than specified even if others seem to have done it.
I admit I am not real concerned as I drive conservatively....but will definitly get the correct size tires when I feel more flush from other expenses.. such as root canals and caps, maybe another caliper in front, a new seat maybe//???? But anyone else note that their Volvo relics are also overendowed in the tire department????
