I thought I wanted a 940 turbo wagon to add to the fleet but now I am getting cold feet. I have been looking for a year or so, not too hard. Most have been trashed, that's why they are selling them! Yesterday I saw a cherry, original owner, all receipts, 1995 940 Turbo wagon with 90,000 miles. They want $10750 and will probably get it here in SoCal. Now I am hesitating because:
1. I can get a 1997 855 wagon, with about the same mileage for not much more (maybe $12K). We have a 240 and an 850 LPT that my wife drives and I really like the 850, it just seems tighter and quieter than 940s. Although I believe the Brickboard posts that tell me, on the average, the 940 will be less in repairs than the FWD.
2. I believe the 5 cyl also tends to get better mileage, especially on the fwy. And won't I have to buy premium, and only get 20 mpg around town if I'm lucky?
Will someone tell me again how wonderful the 940 turbo wagons are? I really hesitate when I see someone buying a 1992 940 NA 4-door for $4000 yet I would need to pay $10K for a turbo wagon. Am I the only guy that gets buyers remorse BEFORE buying anything?
