Drive shaft improvment 900 1991

Shimmed up the carrier bearing last night. Huge improvement. I put the girlfriend, the dogs, and all the tools I could find in the trunk. There was a very, and I stress very small amount of vibration only at take-off. With just the two of us, no tools or dogs... the tack-off was perfectly smooth. I raised the carrier the suggested 1/4".

The solution to this problem brings up another. I had been milking out my speed starts due to the drive shaft problem. I guess I just was not in the mood to pick up the shaft on the side of the highway. With your help and some research...not a problem. When I step on the gas now, the car does not seem to just blast off. It's a turbo, high miles (180K). If I role the car forward 15 feet of so and then step on it, she flies. I put my vacuum test gauge on and the turbo does spool up to the stock 7.5 psig. Even given the high miles, the turbo has very little lateral play, but just a little, and the blades spin free and clear of the turbo housing. I have a new fuel pressure pump (mid car) and FPR.

If this is common, I would like to know. I don't mind the rolling take-off, but just trying to get the car back to "like new" performance.

Thanks for your help

Larry S.
