engine dies while driving, starts again occasionally 200 1990

My 90 240 stalled twice within the space two hours, but started again immediately. The second time, the engine light came on. After about 10 minutes, the car then stopped completely and I had to pull over. The car started this morning after a 2 day rest, and idled fine. The engine light is still on.
