1988 940 What Problems Exist 900

I have a sweet offer to purchase a 1988 940 AT with 275k miles. I'm pretty mechanically inclined (the 240 series are my vehicles of choice). What I'm wondering is what the common problems are with the '88 940 vintage. According to Consumer Reports, the '91-'95 models have problems with engines, transmissions, and heating. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
