heater control valve 200 1992

OK, in spite of the heat and humidity (I was dirty and sweaty anyway) I got un-lazy and started looking at simple things to help out the AC on the '92 245. I took Chris Herbst's suggestion and jumped the pressure switch so that the pusher fan now runs with the compressor. I checked the plugs (felt like the engine had a miss when accelerating with AC on) and found the gap had grown to between .035 and .040 - new plugs will go in next week, but the old soldiers are now properly gapped at .028-.032. OK, last cheapie - adjust the heater control valve. STOP! There appears to be no adjustment at the valve end... but BEFORE I go ripping the console apart, is there a cable adjustment at the dashboard end? If not, how is the heater valve adjusted? Mine does not close fully.
