fuel tank repair

I am thinking of buying a 1988 240 but there is a small leak at the fuel tank seam probably due to rust.

What is a good way to repair this.I am thinking of using JB Weld. I can't tell if the rust comes from the inside or the outside I presume it is from the outside especially from salt exposure.

I once used chewing gum to plug a hole in a motor scooter gas tank with succes but that tank was well protected from the elements and not exposed to salt water and gravel spraying.

I think JB Weld would be quicker since I would not have to remove the tank and less dangerous than welding or soldering the hole because of the danger of igniting the fumes. Any comment or suggetions What about epoxy or fiberglass

How much should one expect to pay for a tank at the wreckers
